Rashid Hasan: Dr. Rashid Hasan did his undergraduate work at the University of Engineering and Technology in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He holds a Master’s of Science and Ph.D. In Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada. He worked at the University of North Dakota where he ultimately became chair and director of the Energy Engineering Doctoral Program.

Most of his work deals with petroleum, concentrating on research issues with wellbore heat transfer, transient transport processes, and alternative fuel. Hasan was recruited to serve as a professor and Head of Chemical Engineering at the University of Minnesota-Duluth and recently has relocated to Texas A&M University. He has worked with NASA, and prestigious industry leaders such as Chevron, Kuwait Oil Company, Imperial Oil Resources, and Hess Corporation.

Hasan has published extensively and has served on various Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) committees, including editorial review for SPEPF and SPEJ. He co-authored the 2002 SPE book frequently used at universities including the University of Texas and Stanford University, titled Fluid Flow and Heat Transfer in Wellbores. Hasan received peer recognition by being awarded the SPE Production and Operation Award for 2011. This is a distinguishing honor of his research accomplishments. Wellbore Heat transfer. We have pioneered modeling heat transfer in wellbores. My work in this area is heavily cited and our book on the subject is considered a definitive work. Numerous consulting assignments have kept my work relevant to the industry.

I plan working on developing heat transfer models for subsea completion in deep water settings. Thermal analysis of umbilical cords in extreme temperature and pressure changes that occur during production and well shut-in for GOM ultra-deepwater reservoirs is important to the industry.  Windows xp service pack 3 bootable iso download. Transient Transport Processes. We have broken new ground in modeling transient flow of heat, mass, and momentum in wellbores. Models have been useful in analyzing transient test data, annulus pressure buildup, and rate estimation. Future work in this area includes modeling wellbore transient heat transfer to convert wellhead pressure during water injection in unconventional formations.

Analysis of warmback data to improve DTS visualization and interpretation is another important future research topic for me. Wellbore Fluid Flow Our model for multiphase flow of gas-liquid has found wide usage in the industry and has been implemented in some commercial packages. Alternative Fuel. I have started work on alternative energy sources, such as metal hydrides for energy storage and bio-diesels. I plan to continue future work in this area.  Taught undergraduate and graduate students. Supervised masters/doctoral students and post-doctoral fellows’ research. Won funding by Instructional Development Committee of UND.  Supervised job performance of four professionals and two departmental staff members.
